Autumn

Autumn is the perfect time to capture the season's vibrant colours at their peak. Trees, with their towering size and the bright sky often serving as a backdrop, can be challenging to photograph. Here I’ve used the log and moss as a focal point in this image, accentuating its texture against the shiny bark. The mist enhances the depth of field, lending an eerie yet enchanting atmosphere that feels magical, soft, and painterly.

Why this image works: The misty avenue draws you into the depths of the scene, inviting the question: What lies beyond? Your eye is guided along the mossy trunk, up and around the trees, back to the stump, and down the avenue, before returning to the scattered beech leaves on the forest floor—encouraging a full exploration of the image.
